Description
...aka Freddie! My absolute favorite composer of all time. Born in 1810 at Zelazowa Wola (wacky name for a place ) and raised in Warsaw Poland. A child prodigy, Chopin wrote over 200 works for the piano, and he rarely composed for any other instrument (just a few songs, chamber pieces, and 2 piano concertos!). He is considered to be one of the greats of the romantic period.
Chopin was always in frail health, so it's not a surprise when he contracted tuberculosis in his late twenties. He was said to be a quiet person, but when among his friends he was witty and full of sly humor. He was the boyfriend of the famous writer George Sand (or Aurore Dudevent) for a period of time. after their breakup due to a family feud in 1836, Chopin's health deteriorated, and he passed away from tuberculosis at a pitiful age of 39.
I've always wondered what composers visualized in their minds as they compose their own pieces. This is just a drawing of Chopin at the piano (he always preferred an upright one), playing one of his nocturnes, and thinking of nighttime.
